From the reviews
Canalside in Buffalo is a wonderful spot to spend an afternoon or evening. The area is beautifully developed with a scenic waterfront that’s perfect for a relaxing walk. The views of the river and boats create a peaceful vibe, especially around sunset.
Great afternoon trip down to the waterfront. Take a history boat tour. Visit the naval museum and gift shop. Grab a hot dog and icr cream cone or a Tim Horton coffee and stroll the boardwalk. Hop on the carousel and take a step back into childhood. Make sure you stop by the "waterway of change" exhibit.
While on vacation, we had time to take a walk and Canalside was a perfect destination with views of the water, decommissioned naval ships, military memorials, areas to relax and more. It's a well maintained space in the city for families to gather. We were there early in the day so it was pretty quiet.
This place is purely just vibes. Me and my friend sat there for a long time and had drinks, good conversations, and amazing pictures. I loved how this place felt so peaceful, and seeing the sunset with drinks in my hands was the perfect way to end the day.
Getting married at Canalside
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
