A stunning waterfront venue with incredible character and views! As a wedding DJ and MC, I’ve had the privilege of performing at many venues—but Foss Waterway Seaport stands out as one of the most memorable.
This review is view from bridge only. Negligible traffic on bridge and if it is sunny day then you are lucky: Mount Rainer is clearly visible and it's gorgeous.
Great lesson in our local maritime history. Great exhibits, kid-friendly, plenty to see for an hour or two. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They also have classes on various things, so check the calendar. We were there for a free event this time, which was wonderful!
We attended a private event at this venue. It was I will first visit here and we found it to be a fascinating historical perspective on Tacoma. The exhibits are really interesting and well done and the entire place seems to be thoughtfully designed. I recommend it.
Getting married at Foss Waterway Seaport
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
