I attended a wedding at the Gem Theatre. Staff was amazing and food was awesome. They had a DJ on the stage and everyone danced throughout the theatre. I would highly recommend this place for a wedding.
Great one hour jazz concert! Excellent musicians, beautiful venue with great sound and acoustics. Seats are pretty packed in, but it's bearable for a short event. There's cocktails and snacks for sale, but we didn't try any. Get there early to get better seats and grab your drink.
Truly a GEM! My company, Top Notch Balloon Creations had the pleasure of decorating for husband and wife’s birthday combined 150 years. The theatre is a classic beauty and the perfect venue for celebrating milestones. The staff was overly accommodating when we arrived to setup. I highly recommend this venue.
Getting married at Gem Theatre Detroit
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
