From the reviews
I loved this hotel on so many levels. First off, it is just clean, well taken care of and has modern style that meets vintage. I love that the room has no TV and just books. We are big readers. The ocean view was beyond perfect.
My daughter and I enjoyed a reading retreat in the Ernest Hemingway room. Everything was great-the fireplace, the balcony, watching the activity on the beach. The free cafe latte in the morning, free hot tea available. We put together a puzzle and played Scrabble.
This is my first visit to Hotel Sylvia which came highly recommended by family and friends. It did not disappoint! I did an extended stay in the Maya Angelou room which has an ocean view and a lovely spacious deck. I was able to relax, read and do some art.
Last minute trip, and I wanted to stay there after the extensive modernization. It was impressive. The rooms have been fully updated, in a simple Scandanavian, modern look, but still with the appropriate syylistic touches for a restful beachfront stay.
Getting married at Hotel Sylvia
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
