From the reviews
It's a nice beach, particularly on a sunny day. From it you can see Far Island, Aleksashkina and supposedly all the way down to Chiniak. It's a small beach, and there's nothing particularly special about it, but it's still a good place to take your kids that's close and quick. Make sure the sun's out!
Today was sunshine and families enjoying Sunday at the beach. The views are beautiful, my wife and I enjoy Mission Beach very much.
I enjoy this spot for parking and enjoying my lunch. It has a wonderful view of Woody Island, Cape Chiniak ( partial view), and the mountains. It is frequented by families and you'll often see the children and caretakers from Baptist mission enjoying the beach and combing for ocean treasures.
Getting married at Mission Beach
Mission Beach is a public beach or park, so a ceremony here almost always needs a permit from the managing city, county, or state parks office — and the rules matter: many public beaches cap your guest count, set ceremony windows, and restrict what you can set up (some ban chairs, arches, and amplified sound entirely). There's no on-site coordinator, catering, or weather backup, so you'll bring your own vendors and a rain plan. The payoff is a stunning setting at a fraction of a private venue's cost. Start with our public-beach permit guide, then call the local office to confirm this season's rules.
