First time here and won’t be our last. What a Southport treasure! Great location, very clean and quiet. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Our Economy Double room with king bed was so clean and comfortable. AC worked as it should. The BEST hotel shower water pressure we’ve ever experienced!
We randomly found this gem, and I am so glad we did. It is such a nice location with a private pool, private beach and a private pier. The rooms were clean and well equipped. The patios are a little small, but chairs are provided and it was a nice place to sit and drink coffee in the mornings.
We stayed for one night and fell in love. We were in a suite with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms were spacious. There was a full kitchen that we didn't get to use, but look forward to returning. We loved the beach area and pier and the river view.
Great place to stay in Southport. Clean rooms, easy to book online, great communication from the office staff. They have a very nice pool, large deck with chairs & tables, private riverside beach, & a pier out into the Cape Fear River for catching fish & the sunrise & sunsets from.
Getting married at River Hotel of Southport
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
