If the island had a beating heart, it would be located at our local Grange! Events galore, rentalble for your event. Bar mitzvah, Quiencenjera, Birthday party, guest lectures and beyond. I'm not much of a dancer but they dances and music there all the time!
A quick walk from the ferry, past the Whale Museum, the Grange Hall was a great place to hold our event! They just re-did the wood floors, the entry hall was inviting, and they just re-did the sound system and a new screen was installed for the up coming film festival!
Great resource. Reasonable price venue for gatherings and fantastic kitchen which was recently redone. Grange does a lot for the community. Great network with other granges. Happy they've kept this afloat, as ma y grange have faded away across the nation.
Great space for Community or private events. Easy to rent, full kitchen and really affordable rates. It's got the best waterfront view in town and a new huge deck.
Getting married at San Juan Island Grange
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
