update: 5/21, both sides of the beach are now open. the pier is still damaged and closed off. I visited here 5/14/25. As of right now: • The right side of the beach is closed off but the picnic tables are open to sit at. This side of the beach is nice if you want quiet.
Its a beautiful beach one side is for boats and fishing. The other side has a playground, picnic table and grass . Its has so much wildlife . Sea birds such as pelicans ,egret, ducks( I saw and took a picture of a rare blue headed mallard ) ,sea gulls ,great blue hearon and seas gulls .
Had the most beautiful, chill day at Sylvan Beach celebrating my mom’s birthday 💛 Being able to sit by the water, feel the sand under our feet, and just breathe without the big crowds (yes—so nice not having to go all the way to Galveston 😅) made it extra special.
I really enjoyed visiting Sylvan Beach Park. My children absolutely loved it! The weather was quite humid, but the warm atmosphere and beautiful surroundings made it worth the visit. It's a great place for families to relax, have fun, and enjoy a day by the water. We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back.
Getting married at Sylvan Beach Park
Sylvan Beach Park is a public beach or park, so a ceremony here almost always needs a permit from the managing city, county, or state parks office — and the rules matter: many public beaches cap your guest count, set ceremony windows, and restrict what you can set up (some ban chairs, arches, and amplified sound entirely). There's no on-site coordinator, catering, or weather backup, so you'll bring your own vendors and a rain plan. The payoff is a stunning setting at a fraction of a private venue's cost. Start with our public-beach permit guide, then call the local office to confirm this season's rules.
