Steve is the perfect host! He helped me plan the trip, served as a personal guide and provided a wonderful experience. I revisited the island where my family was stationed as a young 11-12 year old when my father was in the Navy. The trip was terrific....the fishing, hiking, exploring, and revisiting the past.
Steve Carroll, owner of The Adak Aleutian/Experience, LLC, was our host for us Marines for our 2024 Marines of the Cold War Reunion and project on Adak. The 4 of us rented a home unit from August 3rd to August 10th, 2024. We also rented a quad cab pickup truck from him that week.
These folks are great. They managed our group birding trip very well. Food was solid and tasty (and fresh!). They even dealt with a faulty power grid by setting up generators in each house. Highly recommended.
Getting married at The Adak/Aleutian Experience
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
