From the reviews
We got married here in July and did an indoor wedding for about 35 people. It was absolutely beautiful and the coordinator Jenn is incredible to work with.
We absolutely love the commanding that's General's Residence and garden at Fort Monroe! We've been there many times for weddings, corporate functions, baby showers over the years. The staff is extra helpful and knowledgeable and accommodating.
We went there last week for a wedding. It is a beautiful location for a garden wedding and intimate reception. We had a wonderful time in a great setting. The rooms are a bit chopped up into small seating areas, but the main front room allows for a good number of dancing guests.
As the mother of the bride, I could not have been happier with this beautiful venue. It was a small wedding followed by cocktail hour and dinner (with dancing in the foyer!), and all of the spaces were perfect. The bride's room upstairs was an added bonus.
Getting married at The Commanding General's Residence and Garden
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
