On holiday from the UK I couldn’t fault the place. Amazing food, I’d recommend the streak, the lobster roll or the crab cakes. They were all truly amazing. We visited in July and the Sunset was a good as the one I saw in Zanzibar.
The Halyard is an absolute gem on the North Fork. The view is gorgeous, the ambience and decor are flawless. The main lobby and dining area are crisp, calm and serene while the piano bar has the coziest old world charm with red leather booths. The swordfish and fluke were exceptional.
Caught this place on a quiet fall Thursday day. So. Not crowded at all. Got my wife and baby a nice deck table with a clear view of the water..awesome. Everyone was super friendly here. Food was great too. We shared a bacon clam chowder (9/10, seemed like it had 45 ingredients).
Great place for a sunset dinner. Unfortunately, the night my family was there, it was overcast with rain. Excellent food, great apps. The oysters are fantastic! Nice n cold. Baked clams 👍🏼 truffle mushroom bread is a must try. The main courses are excellent as well. Trout, short ribs, and pasta bolognese were all good.
Getting married at The Halyard Restaurant
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
