My partner & I attended a beautiful wedding held in one of the ballrooms at the Santuary at Kiawah Island. Not only was the wedding spectacular but the grounds and the entire resort was perfect from the moment we arrived until we left 4 days later we enjoyed everything about the Santuary.
We have been coming to The Sanctuary since 2010. When we first started visiting, it was just my husband and me. Today, we arrive with our three kids in tow, and The Sanctuary has continued to be a place we look forward to returning to year after year.
Such a wonderful getaway. It’s like stepping away to another world. This resort is amazing. The staff is wonderful and accommodating. The rooms are comfortable and large. Beautiful views. I love how it’s a large resort but doesn’t feel crowded even when it’s full.
We tried this place for one night as we are looking for a new regular beach spot to frequent. Incredible property and setting on the beach. Everything is tasteful, attention to detail is outstanding from the heavy towels and robes to the turn down service.
Getting married at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
