Coming in the staff were friendly. Food came out quick and the quality was superb. The cooks definitely pay close attention to detail as the presentation was very appealing. Windows also offer a nice view. Saw a sign saying “best crab cakes” and lives up to its’ name!
I’ve eaten at plenty of places with good service, but very little genuine connection beyond the standard “Hi, my name is Mary, and I’ll be taking care of you tonight.” That hasn't been my experience at the Wellwood with server-extraordinaire, John. What makes John memorable goes well beyond the food.
Great restaurant on the northest river. Been here several times the spring for lunch and the meals and service were excellent. Enjoyed the crab soup and the lunch. Also walked over to a small park for the view.
We were pleasantly surprised with our experience today. The oysters Rockefeller was fantastic and the crabs were great, but the best part of our day was Principal Karen our server. We will be back!
Getting married at The Wellwood Restaurant
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
