From the reviews
The staff is fantastic! But it is an older building and sounds travel through thin walls. I have been struggling to sleep all week. I asked about a sound curfew on the first night and was told that 10:00 was reasonable, yet I was awakened tonight at 11:00.
This is a beautiful location and the rooms are spacious, but there are some downsides. There is no ventilation in the kitchen so I had to cook with sliding door open to a snowstorm. There is no dishwasher or garbage disposal, making clean up more time consuming than it needs to be.
Nice location close to the lake and its great that you get access to the yacht club. The hotel itself is dated, but they keep it clean. Good service as well.
Getting married at Windrifter Resort
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
