we go yearly and its gotten better each time. usually we don't arrive until close to 4 so the room is always ready. the rip tides at the beach are dangerous so be aware of those, we have been trained to know where to look for them but most visitors are not and someone recently lose their life due to it.
Wonderful stay in a great property. The staff are so hardworking and dedicated it feels like staying at your extended family’s home. Everyone is so nice and accommodating. We had Cheech and Chong next door hotboxing their unit and slamming their doors all night.
I have been to Maui over 20 times. We also have a timeshare at the Hilton next door, which wasn't available. The room at the Kaanapali Shores Tower was a 1-bedroom with many extra touches not found in any room I ever stayed in.
Location is superb. You're right on the beach with some really accessible snorkeling right there and a great view of the sunset. There are two pools, with one being a kid magnet and the other being more laid back. The rooms are well-apportioned and ours had an equipped kitchen, which we used and liked.
Getting married at Aston Kaanapali Shores
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
