We stayed at The White House for 2 nights in May 2023. The hotel is cozy, right far enough from the cruise ship crowds, but still close enough to the Broadway for walking. Rooms are well taken care of, host is always one phone call away (in the backroom).
We visited various parts of SE Alaska, and this was our favorite place. The location is great - easy walking distance from restaurants and downtown but far enough away that it's quiet both during the day and evening/night. The innkeeper was friendly, responsive, and helpful.
My husband and I got married yesterday and because it was just a small elopement we decided to go to Skagway for the night (we live in Whitehorse). Getting married at At The White House
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
