From the reviews
I use to go to Asbury Park with my family as a kid, and then in my teenage to twenties for shows. Haven't been down in AP in 20 years. I decided to take my wife for a Valentine's Day getaway, stayed at the Berkeley Oceanfront and was massively impressed by this historical hotel with the modern decor.
Although this trip we didn't stay, I have been there before, (a few weddings, a few gigs, and during warped tour and skate and surf) and it's a weird place. I am impressed with the latest upgrades and rightfully so, they have some major competition in the area. We were there for the punk rock flea market.
A friend I was with had an issue with our reservation at the Asbury Hotel, which ultimately forced us to leave and find another place to stay. Even though it was late in the evening, the staff at The Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel stepped in and found accommodations for us.
This hotel is opulent yet not stuffy. The staff were very accommodating and welcoming. There are so many cozy, beautiful places through out the hotel common areas to chill with your partner, work on laptop, or read. They were all so kind to my pup 🐶 Ozzy Rockstar. We were there on business.
Getting married at Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
