My visit to this worthy coastal viewpoint began with a decision on where to park. There are upper and lower parking areas. The restrooms are in between them, slightly closer to the upper area. The lower area is more convenient to the very short hike out to the lighthouse.
I enjoy the beautiful scenery and view of the Ocean, wildlife, rocks and mountains. This was the first time that Ive approached a lighthouse from the top! Your first view is an up close view of the top or light of the lighthouse. Then, you go down to see it from the bottom.
Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint and Lighthouse was a magnificent place to enjoy the views. It was interesting to be the same height as the light of the lighthouse since it was built at a lower part of the peninsula. The lighthouse and giftshop was closed for the winter season.
Beautiful lookout point with easy access. The walk to the lighthouse is a downhill trail, and makes for a quick walk. The lighthouse itself is open 11am-4pm. The walk back uphill is a bit more strenuous, but should t take more than 10-15 minutes.
