We got married at Cape Rey Carlsbad in May 2026 and it was the best decision we made. From the very first visit in April 2025, we couldn't stop thinking about how gorgeous the venue was. Our stay at Cape Rey has been excellent. For anyone planning a visit, I strongly recommend choosing an ocean-view room - the scenery and ambiance add so much to the experience. We also visited the spa and had an incredible treatment that helped us unwind completely.
Looking for a beautiful beach front hotel with exceptional hospitality? This is it. My wife and I traveled from the east coast to stay at this gem of a property with a breathtaking view of the ocean. Sean and Bob as well as the valet greeted us and made the reservation process hassle free when we needed help.
It is a nice hotel with good service. The only reason I did not give it five stars is due to the room they originally tried to put us in. I spend extra to get a view of the ocean but they put us in a room overlooking other rooms of the hotel.

Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
