From the reviews
We didn't know what to expect with this museum, but were really impressed by it! It is very well worth the visit, and there's more than enough to see in the 2 days the admission fee covers. At the beginning, someone went over the map with us, and explained some about the buildings. That was really helpful.
We had heard this museum was a must see and it didn't disappoint. One fee for a two-day ticket that was not expensive. There is a lot of area to cover, so it was nice to know we could come back. We visited in October so it was not crowded.
This is an interactive, expansive and informative museum. A lot of the exhibits are hands on and life-size so that you feel immersed in the history. I was able to use a tool to pull up real oysters, climb the lighthouse, and so much more.
Fabulous museum about life on the Chesapeake Bay. They cover everything from boat building and restoration to oystering to recreation. As it was only just open there were several buildings not available for public viewing.
Getting married at Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
