From the reviews
I highly recommend Gold Bug Island for your event. We had our wedding and reception there, and we could not have dreamed up a better place. The staff was helpful, supportive and made everything so easy! The view was spectacular for an outside ceremony and the inside/outside areas for the reception was perfect.
we had our wedding reception here and it was perfect! I can't say enough good things about Gold Bug's responsiveness, cheerful kindness and clear communication. Would highly recommend for a special event. Both inside and outside spaces were awesome, and the staff are so very helpful and customized a lot for us.
This was the best venue I could of hoped for for my big day! Very affordable and Chance Nilsen was such a pleasure to deal with! He definitely took away a lot of stress that comes with planning a wedding! I highly recommend this Venue!
Destination Gold Bug is the ideal Charleston venue location. We used it for our anniversary party and the guest couldn't stop saying enough nice things about it. The staff was great to work with leading up to and on the day of the event.
Getting married at Destination Gold Bug
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
