Our family really enjoyed this place. Couldn't believe we lived in Federal Way for four years before discovering it. We were at a different park and the lady picking up the trash told us about Dumas Bay. It is behind a building that almost looks abandoned.
This is a great local venue for weddings or conventions, it also incorporates a small local theater and an incredible view of Maury/Vashon island. Of note, the pathway to the beach is currently closed due to damage to the access staircase.
The grounds are breathtaking here. I have been her for spiritual retreat with the Episcopal Church when they had their Cursillo here. Used to be a Catholic Convent. The rooms are small and can get hot in the summer. Great memories. :)
Accommodations are simple. Perfect for a retreat. Gorgeous grounds. Super helpful staff. Chef is awesome. They beautifully accommodated the varied diet needs of our group. Good place for a corporate off-site.
Getting married at Dumas Bay Centre
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
