From the reviews
Fifty shades of green. The park was stunning, with lush green moss covering the trees whilst the mist settled around us! As it had been raining, everything was sparkling and green! We were impressed with the well-built and maintained walking tracks that took you lakeside and to the coastline for stunning views.
This area is diverse in topography with steep cliffs, dense spruce forest and rocky beaches. Used in WW2 as a fortification, concrete bunkers can be seen facing the ocean. In the water below an incredible variety of creatures can be found Sea Otters, Whales and Seals just to name a few.
Amazing rain forest park. Moss covers trees and rocks, giving it an enchanting feeling. Trails are well maintained and marked. The views are beautiful and breathtaking. A must visit when in Kodiak.
Really great park with wonderful views and a well defined/travelled trail system. A great place to go for a walk.
Getting married at Fort Abercrombie State Historic Park
Fort Abercrombie State Historic Park is a public beach or park, so a ceremony here almost always needs a permit from the managing city, county, or state parks office — and the rules matter: many public beaches cap your guest count, set ceremony windows, and restrict what you can set up (some ban chairs, arches, and amplified sound entirely). There's no on-site coordinator, catering, or weather backup, so you'll bring your own vendors and a rain plan. The payoff is a stunning setting at a fraction of a private venue's cost. Start with our public-beach permit guide, then call the local office to confirm this season's rules.
