From the reviews
We randomly drove here just for fun from Monroe LA. We have been to several beaches across the US and Louisiana and as far as this beach goes…. It’s ok. It’s a Louisiana beach for sure! The water is murky but hey that’s LA for you!
Remote and tucked away, this place is a gem. We are camping and the sites are nice and just a quick walk from the beach. The devastation of hurricane Ida can still be seen in the area. That is very sad… But they have done a phenomenal job of rebuilding this park.
Small 49 site campground within walking distance of the beach. The beach was cleaner and nicer than expected and was a nice respite from the heat. I wish dogs were allowed on leash, but I suppose it's because some just won't clean up after their dogs. Well worth the scenic drive to get Don't forget to bring bug spray!
Grand Isle State Park camping was absolutely worth the drive in March! You can listen to the waves while sleeping at camp. The DNR patrolled and it was a beautiful, quiet campground under palm trees! The beach is right over a little sand dune, a simple walk on the boardwalk.
Getting married at Grand Isle State Park
Grand Isle State Park is a public beach or park, so a ceremony here almost always needs a permit from the managing city, county, or state parks office — and the rules matter: many public beaches cap your guest count, set ceremony windows, and restrict what you can set up (some ban chairs, arches, and amplified sound entirely). There's no on-site coordinator, catering, or weather backup, so you'll bring your own vendors and a rain plan. The payoff is a stunning setting at a fraction of a private venue's cost. Start with our public-beach permit guide, then call the local office to confirm this season's rules.
