For what you pay this property was fine but nothing special. The location is outstanding, and the staff was friendly but poorly trained and equipped to handle problems. Poorly executed fairly simple things. I felt more like a transaction than a guest while staying.
My husband and I chose this property for a get-away, and WOW, it didn't disappoint. Even though we were a bit away from the town of Carmel, the staff and amenities made it so we didn't even feel the need to leave.
This is a review on the timeshare side of Carmel Highlands. This was my first stay in the timeshare program and this was 10/10. The location is close to arguably the best trails in the whole area (lobos point) and 10 minutes from the town.
Getting married at Hyatt Carmel Highlands
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
