Arrived by discovery princess. Took the gondola to the top of the hill. Small walk to a hidden lake .Need to be fit parts are steep. Great views from the top. Then walked along forest walk into town, lots of souvenir shops. Then free gondola back to ship

Icy Strait Point is beautiful. The Red Gondola you paid around $56 and is nice to have a beautiful view from the top of the mountain you will see the bay, mountains, cruise lines and wonderful amazing views.

Icy Strait Point is located on Chichagof Island, one of Alaska’s largest. It is used as a port of call for many cruise ships. It is home to the largest Tlingit tribes in the state. Hoonah is the main town and the island boasts one of the highest densities of coastal brown bears.

Not much to do, but I loved the local vibe. We walked the nature trail and we saw whales from the beach. Went shopping in the cannery supporting local tribe. Split a cluster of dungess crab legs with the family for the experience. Got some donuts (the huckleberry was AMAZING).

Getting married at Icy Strait Point

Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
