From the reviews
Stayed here in March, 2010 with my daughter. LOVED our stay. If you are used to the Ritz. You may be disappointed in the rooms. BUT... I was there to see the island. Definitely not sit in my room. Although. Sometimes it was hard to leave in the AM.
We have an older style room (shower and closet mirrors need adjusting), but the beds are comfy. There wasn't an elevator, so be ready to climb the stairs. However, we woke up to a beautiful view of the waves crashing on the beach and sun poking up from behind the summit. I would stay here again.
Cheap prices (for Maui) great location and even sweeter staff. The staff was definitely my favorite part. I loved talking to them and asking them for suggestions. Always helped out. The rooms are a little dated and do not have ac. So if you're sensitive to heat. Maybe don't choose these. I loved it though.
Getting married at Kaanapali Ocean Inn
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
