As someone who camped here with a tent, there are some great qualities and not so great qualities! The park rangers were super friendly and the bathrooms were very clean, although almost every site was uneven ground which wasn’t ideal for setting up a tent. Other than that we had a great stay!
Little bit of Heaven. History built in 1964. Food Amazing. View Wonderful. Air was good. Beds slept restful.
The building is a little old and will be closing for renovating soon, but it had newer furniture and fixtures and a private deck, which was excellent after we brushed off the cobwebs. (Bring a small broom and citronella candle.) The location is so beautiful.
The rooms was clean and comfortable. They could use some attention and minor repairs. The service was great. The view of the lake from our balcony was a great way to spend our morning. Will definitely go back again.
Getting married at Lake Barkley State Resort Park
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
