What couples highlight
From the reviews
We reserved three rooms at The Matador for the week prior to July 4th. First, rather than book online I did so by calling. The woman that I spoke to was incredibly helpful and insightful. We rented two efficiency rooms and a regular two bed room.
We've been going here for years. The rooms are always clean. The room has a full size fridge which is a bonus, especially traveling with a family. The pool is refreshing. They have a playground directly next door. The boardwalk and beach are right out the front door. Staff is super friendly and helpful.
Best location, start of the boardwalk, a couple blocks from the fracture prune, Russos and the original hassels ice cream. The pool is nice and the upper observation deck is wonderful in the morning for sunrises. Firm beds if you like that, the smell of Lysol is overwhelming when you walk in to your room.
We've stayed at the Matador many times and give this property high ratings for the staff, cleanliness of the rooms, the property and the pool. It is a convenient location. Parking however can be challenging. If you are handicapped, there is only one handicapped parking spot.
Getting married at Matador Oceanfront Resort
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
