From the reviews
We had our wedding here and we could write a book about how wonderful the location, staff, owners, and process was. Katie, the event coordinator for the property is the sweetest, most thoughtful person who thought of every detail and made the day go smoothly.
My entire family stayed at Maxwelton for our wedding in August and loved it. It is charmingly retro, reminiscent of resorts in the Catskills or someplace similar. The main parlor (hangout area) is filled with games, books, and even has a record player with records.
The rooms were cute and quiet. Staff showed a genuine interest in our well being that went beyond what you’d expect. They drove us to our car (the morning after a wedding) because we couldn’t get an uber. Shoutout Adam! 100% will stay here again if we’re in baileys harbor.
All the staff is wonderful here. No frills place but such a comforting, homey feel. The grounds are historic and beautiful. Updated while keeping character. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay near Baileys Harbor.
Getting married at Maxwelton Braes Lodge
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
