From the reviews
This is our second year staying at Oakapiney. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay in Alpena on a beautiful swimming beach with perfect skipping stones. The kids are entertained from sunup until you finally get them into their beds.
Super amazing and kind owners! All the other guests were so chill, too. Views are amazing. Access to the beach is right here. Easy access to Alpena, local state parks, good food, beer, and all the things you want around you when you unplug. I highly recommend this spot!
Calm, relaxing, slow paced, beautiful view. 6 cottages of knotty pine wood with rustic decor spaced respectfully apart. Each has it's own view of Lake Huron except cottage 6 tucked in the woods.
A very peaceful setting in the woods. The cabins are cute and the views are great. Lake Huron is accessible and nearby Downtown Alpena has some fun restaurants and shops. The owners are great people who work hard to keep the place magical. Definitely worth a visit.
Getting married at Oakapiney Beach Resort
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
