We had near record heat the day we visited the beach, High 90s, felt like 104. IMPORTANT NOTE, the spot were we entered the beach area was hot enough under the direct sun to burn bare feet. Being the old man, I was the only one that wore shoes. Flip flops weren't enough. The water in lake superior isn't cold...
Came back three years later to catch a sunrise here after visiting for the first time at sunset and seeing some nice views on the bay side. This sunrise did not disappoint Cold morning but completely worth it to come out here to see some amazing natural displays with fog and light I still haven’t done the hike to the…
Very nice beach, free to enter, the water seems very clean. Free parking less than five minutes walk to the beach. It was only about a 15 minute drive from the downtown area. Lots of great photo opportunities along the way, including beautiful water views, bridges and architecture.
I mean, a beautiful beach right next to a beautiful forest trail!? Favorite spot in Duluth.
Getting married at Park Point Beach
Park Point Beach is a public beach or park, so a ceremony here almost always needs a permit from the managing city, county, or state parks office — and the rules matter: many public beaches cap your guest count, set ceremony windows, and restrict what you can set up (some ban chairs, arches, and amplified sound entirely). There's no on-site coordinator, catering, or weather backup, so you'll bring your own vendors and a rain plan. The payoff is a stunning setting at a fraction of a private venue's cost. Start with our public-beach permit guide, then call the local office to confirm this season's rules.
