As the author of The Grant Colson Thriller Series and SERA Archives Thriller Series, I’ve spent a lot of time around Pier South Resort, Autograph Collection, and it’s been a major upgrade to Imperial Beach. This hotel changed the feel of the area when it was built.
One of the best hotels in San Diego. This report by Marriot has great location and right on the beach. It doesnt get too crowded and you will be able to enjoy your stay. 15 minutes from Coronado island and downtown SD. Staff is very attentive and friendly

Great hotel to rest and recharge as it sits right off the beach and Pacific Ocean. My room was clean and the view was AMAZING! The location is good (20 - 30 mins from airport, downtown, zoo and other attractions). The area is walkable with restaurants and a wellness center in a short distance.

Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
