To start, the location is beautiful. We sat on a deck overlooking a marina with a sunset view. The atmosphere was fun for adults, but also good for our elementary school aged kids. The food, even with a busier than usual kitchen, was great. But where this place really shined was the superior service.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Pleasant Beach Hotel for a recent family reunion. We used 7 of the rooms for our accommodations and had dinner on the adjacent pavilion on 2 evenings.
Absolutely the best location we have chosen to stay when visiting the Fair Haven / Oswego area. The venue, staff, location, restaurant, and bar were all over the top. Priced reasonably and fair. Judy and Patti left us needing nothing. So accommodating and friendly.
We did not have a room, we had dinner. Our server was attentive, and the Saranac Seasonal caramel porter was very good. Our meals were delicious: the cashew-cornflake encrusted fish, garlic mashed potatoes, fish bites, loaded mashed potatoes, and bisque & salad were exceptional.
Getting married at Pleasant Beach Hotel
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
