I gave this park a 5 star mainly because this was the only campground that we stayed at that actually had ocean beach access right from the campground. This was a nice clean park, the bathroom and showers were clean. The sites were concrete pads, fire pits were huge and it was very quiet.
So I came here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the park and the easy access to the beach. There were only a couple of things that I would suggest improving. 1. The fire pits need cleaning. There was a foot of compacted ash in the fire rings.
This is a very LARGE campground. + Park had 3 main beach access trails. One is in excellent condition and is maintained for visitors with physical limitations. The other two are "ruff" in sections. + Nice paved 2 mile walking / bike trail goes from the day use area to the South Beach Jetty area.
The campsites on the west side of the road are large because there is a 15’ open space behind the sites and before the coastal forest begins. In mid February it wasn’t crowded. They have a few paths out to the beach so one path is close to every site.
