From the reviews
My husband and I stay here every year with our kids. I love that this place is right off the trail and I can walk to the beach whenever I want I like the balcony that allows me access to the trail. The rooms have a Keurig, microwave and mini fridge. I like that the entrance to the rooms feel like condos.
This was by far my favorite hotel on our 2 week Pacific Coast Highway roadtrip. We enjoyed stepping out our patio door & getting to take a walk in the beach, we loved sitting out on the balcony watching the sunset, watching for whales & listening to the waves crashing.
This hotel is all about the location for us, its right on the ocean with beautiful views & wonderful fresh air. Dog friendly. There is a multi-use road between the hotel & beach used by dog walkers, joggers, bike riders, etc. We have family in town, so we've stayed here several times in the past couple years.
We only had one night, and knew we wouldn’t spend much time, so went for a non-view room. It was really large and had lots of amenities. The robes and mugs would have been great if we had an ocean view room to enjoy coffee with a view.
Getting married at Surf and Sand Lodge
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
