You may see outdated reviews before the renovation and new management. The current hotel, staff and restaurant are INCREDIBLE. We hosted a wedding weekend here in 2025 and cannot recommend it enough to future couples or anyone just visiting Kennebunkport. The rooms were beautiful, amazing location, amazing food, etc.
My stay at the Breakwater Inn in Kennebunkport, Maine was nothing short of magical—especially in the winter. The entire area transforms into a peaceful coastal wonderland, with crisp ocean air, quiet snowy landscapes, and breathtaking views that feel almost untouched.
Would highly recommend a stay at the Breakwater in Kennebunkport. We were in the King Harborview across from the main building where the larger restaurant is located, but the rooms in this building are very cozy and safe. We had a fantastic view of the sunset over the water outside our window!
Our stay here saved our vacation! We had reservations at another inn and it was NOT what we thought we were getting. We checked in to Breakwater Inn the next day and were very pleased with the room. Great location within easy walking distance to Dock Square and Colony Beach.
Getting married at The Breakwater Inn
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
