From the reviews
A nice spot to explore Ocean shores. We enjoyed the hot tub and the third floor room with a nice view of the water about a mile away across the dunes. We tried the walkway to the beach but about halfway it gets impassable. That sad. You can get to the beach pretty easily just around the corner.
Truly a diamond in the rough. At first, you're kind of wondering, but then you're welcomed by super helpful and accommodating staff. The rooms are actually pretty awesome! They remind me of posh 90's hotels with all the bells and whistles but everything still works great! It feels super homey and comfortable...
A nice, reasonably priced, older hotel that's relatively close to the beach. It's not new and needs a bit of work to be updated, but it is priced accordingly. The rooms are quiet. Though, on one night, an upstairs guest created a lot of noise, and the hotel staff had good measures in place to deal with it.
What a great find! The location is great and an easy walk to this small resort town. The private entrance to the beach trail is a nice addition of the experience. This is an apartment hotel. So you get a vibe or VRBO with concierge. The staff is super nice and attentive. The grounds are very well kept.
Getting married at The Grey Gull
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
