A Hidden Gem – Already Planning Our Return! We stumbled upon The Pelican by accident, and what a lucky find it was! This place turned out to be one of the best vacation experiences we've had in years. Everything about it exceeded our expectations.
My son and I stayed one night in probably the smallest cottage. It was very comfortable, especially the bed and the bedding. The weather was quite warm, but the AC kept us nice and cool. We really enjoyed the beach area with the chairs. It was the perfect area for him to swim around and for me to enjoy the sunset.
The room(202) was neat and clean. There's no view or a functional window but location so great that we didn't mind staying in this room. It's a small but worked well for short stay. This property has private beach and it's amazing.
Everything about this place was amazing. The staff was very timely and on top of things. It’s a smaller hotel, so the staff recognized me after a day. You get 2 hrs of free kayaking per day, which I didn’t even know when I booked so that was a really nice surprise.
Getting married at The Pelican Key Largo Cottages
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
