From the reviews
This park is absolutely stunning! It has become easily one of my favorite state parks in Florida. The gardens and the history behind them are phenomenal, and absolutely beautiful.
This has been a favorite spot for myself and my family for 35 years now, and counting! We've enjoyed countless beach walks, never tiring of the amazing coquina rock formations. We especially love to visit when the azaleas are in bloom. The rose garden is a joy to behold when it's in bloom several times a year.
Washington Oaks Gardens State Park is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. The gardens are well maintained with gorgeous flowers, large oak trees, and relaxing walking paths. The beach across the road is unique with coquina rock formations that make it perfect for photos and exploring.
This is a nice place to spend a fraction of a day. The trails are not strenuous and there are plenty of benches if you’re with someone who needs to take a break. The picnic area has grills and pavilions. The garden is well maintained but modest. The beach part of the park is scenic. My dog loved this place.
Getting married at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park
Washington Oaks Gardens State Park is a public beach or park, so a ceremony here almost always needs a permit from the managing city, county, or state parks office — and the rules matter: many public beaches cap your guest count, set ceremony windows, and restrict what you can set up (some ban chairs, arches, and amplified sound entirely). There's no on-site coordinator, catering, or weather backup, so you'll bring your own vendors and a rain plan. The payoff is a stunning setting at a fraction of a private venue's cost. Start with our public-beach permit guide, then call the local office to confirm this season's rules.
