We camped in an SUV tent for three nights and it was amazing! We were really impressed with how clean, cozy and nice the whole resort was. The sunset views were epic, the coffee and pizza were surprisingly good, and the showers were clean and the perfect temp (not coin operated either like some info online says).
We booked the Madrona cabin for a relaxing get away and it's been so good for the soul. You can't beat your own private hot tub and beautiful views from West Beach. Be sure to try the pizza at the store! Oh, and the room is immaculate!
This place is our winter weather unwind. Stormy weather is great for the cozy wood burning stove, board games and watching the ocean react. We haven’t been there for summer, but I’m sure it’s private beach front bbq/Adirondack space makes it EPIC.
We've been coming to Orcas Island for almost 10 years and this is our first stay at West Beach Resort. We had THE BEST time here with our 2 young kids. We came on a dreary winter weekend and left feeling incredibly refreshed.
Getting married at West Beach Resort
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
