What a beautifully place to stay, brand new, super clean vacation rooms. The bedding and beds were very comfortable, the pillows are new and very clean. Great location, and Peggy was so great to work with and accommodating if we needed anything.
SO cute and CLEAN. We loved our stay at the Whale! All the little things you need to be comfortable and then some. Love that they are dog friendly and even though there isnt an ocean view from the rooms themselves you could still pretty much hit the ocean with a baseball from the Whales parking lot it's that close!
Great location, good prices, quaint comfy rooms with nice kitchenettes. Walking distance to the main strip or to the water. Fantastic coffee shop across the street for quiet little mornings. My only thing is the walls are thin so you have to be very quiet and considerate of your neighbors.
Another great overnight stay as we motorcycled north along the coast. Clean premises with tasteful decor. Reasonable rates. Handy location.
Getting married at Whale Inn of Depoe Bay
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
