My wife and I stayed at the Alegria Oceanfront Inn & Cottages this past weekend for our "babymoon" as we are a few weeks away from our daughter's delivery date. We wanted/needed a quiet, relaxing and private getaway and the Alegria did not disappoint! The property is gorgeous and very well-maintained.
We had a birthday vacation at the Alegria Inn and Cottages, and stayed in the Cove Cottage, right above the beach. We have been coming to various places in and near Mendocino for almost 50 years, but this was our first time here. it's our new favorite place.
Love Mendocino, and this is my and my partner's "happy place"! The location has beautiful ocean views, and very peaceful. The "Tree House" room is our favorite. Although it's not ground level and rustic, it's completely private with a balcony. Has a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, wood-burning fireplace, etc.
I had an amazing experience at Alegria Inn. Very friendly staff, great room with a comfortable bed and amenities, and well appointed with ocean views. Highly recommend!
Getting married at Alegria Oceanfront Inn & Cottages
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
