From the reviews
All of the Athenaeum staff was excellent to work with. During the initial planning stages, Veronica and Richard were my main points of contact, both of whom were very helpful answering questions. They were happy to entertain our questions both via email and during the various trips to check out the space.
We had a small morning wedding ceremony in the garden with about 35 guests and a violinist, and it felt incredibly intimate and special. We held our reception elsewhere later that evening for a larger group, so this setting gave us exactly the quiet, meaningful atmosphere we were hoping for.
Great choice for wedding venue. I captured many beautiful pictures there last month. It has a small secret garden outdoor and gorgeous paintings indoor. - Villa Li Photography
We hosted a 50 guest wedding ceremony and reception at the Athenaeum in September 2022 and had a wonderful experience! It is such a beautiful setting. We used the gorgeous back courtyard for our cocktail hour at sunset and it felt truly magical.
Getting married at Athenaeum
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
