Holiday Inn Resort in Bar Harbor Maine at 123 Eden Street Bar Harbor Maine 04609 is a place that really makes you pause and take in where you are. Standing on the property you can look out over the water and feel how close you are to nature and the coastline.
Based on past reviews, you get the sense this hotel used, keyword there: used, to be some sort of hell hole. That's the opposite of what we encountered. What we found was a family friendly, conveniently located hotel (close to downtown BH and Acadia) with all the amenities.
From the outside and some reviews of this place it didn’t seem good, possibly old and not clean. But we booked anyways and it was gorgeous! The lobby and rooms were newly renovated it still smelled like fresh wood and supplies. It was so pretty, we had a balcony view that was amazing.
Room was very clean and very comfortable. My only issue with the room is that the bathroom has seen better days. It has not been updated in years and the tub was literally chipping apart. Kitchen appliances were dated, but worked fine. Perfect location and a gorgeous view from the expansive deck.

Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
