⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Million-Percent Recommend — The Perfect Catalina Stay I stayed at Hotel Atwater in Avalon, CA from June 24th–26th, and let me just say… this hotel made me feel like an absolute queen.
Overall, I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Atwater. The location is great and the staff was friendly and helpful. However, I do want to mention that the bed in my room was listed as a king, but it felt significantly smaller — closer to a queen size. I own a king bed at home, so this stood out to me right away.
Hotel was amazing. Went to Descanco Beach. Maureen set us up with a fantastic cabana for our friends birthday. She was gracious and extremely helpful. Our server Jesse was the best! We couldn’t be happier. We live in Philadelphia and will recommend Atwater and Descanco to all our friends. We will be back!
Getting married at Hotel Atwater
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
