WHAT A MAGICAL INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE AT KALANI!!! Our experience at Kalani Oceanside Resort was like heaven on earth. The people there are the most beautiful community and are so warm and heart centered and welcoming. They make you feel so at home.
This is a hard review to write because it's so subjective. But I'll try. This place is beautiful and fun, no doubt about it. The staff are kind and friendly. Our hut was a cute kitchy Chinese theme. It seemed clean enough, though there is rust and and aging issues here and there likely from the sea air.
I had such a wonderful, but too short, weekend at Kalani this summer. I hopped over to the big island for a few days of r & r since I was already coming to Hawaii from the mainland for a wedding. At Kalani I was made to feel very welcome, especially as I was traveling alone.
One of the most amazing places in the world where I have ever been! If you are looking for a remote, friendly place where the sound of the ocean can put you sleep this is the one! The crew is amazing, they are doing so hard to keep the place nice and also taking care of this sacred land.
Getting married at Kalani Oceanside Retreat Center
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
