I hadn't heard much about this beach when researching places to visit on the Road to Hana, but my audio driving guide mentioned it as a suggested stop and I'm so glad it did! It has both rocky shores and sandy beach and the red rocks around the beach give the sand a beautiful color.
Great beach that is usually pretty empty. Waves can get a bit rough, but the red sand is gorgeous, and it's fun to hike along the northern edge as you can go quite far and find some cool little areas to snorkel that are protected from the chop.
We came here after our hike at Haleakala on the way back to Hana. The red sand beach was beautiful. There were just a few people on the beach. Quiet and peaceful. We came back early the next morning for sunrise and the sky did not disappoint! Gorgeous, quiet spot. Nothing fancy, just nature.
This is a great place to stop after your long trip on "The Road to Hana". There is a rocky beach with great views. There is ample parking here and there are usually local vendors selling food and souvenirs. There are restrooms located here. Its a good place to take pictures after your long drive.
