Tried to fly a drone to capture the moment, the strong wind almost blow it away. Great view of wave, rock, sea.
Saw whales 🐳-saw them do a shallow dive, saw the back arch and then go under…then the tail ..and it was amazing! It was about 11am, don’t know if the whales usually come through in the late morning end of January ..but they did today!!! Lots of places to get different views and it’s not difficult walking at all.
AMAZING BUT GO ON WEEKDAYS IF YOU'RE ABLE... There is so much beauty here, my wife and I come often. But the weekends are not as peaceful. Still quiet for the most part but people park ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE! Seems like it's accepted nowadays. Parking in trails, blocking trails, on the beach rocks.
Laupahoehoe Point needs to be one of your stops along the way. This area shows you the power of the ocean more than anywhere else on this side of the island. There are several spots to view from and they most certainly will leave you in awe.
Getting married at Laupāhoehoe Point
Laupāhoehoe Point is a public beach or park, so a ceremony here almost always needs a permit from the managing city, county, or state parks office — and the rules matter: many public beaches cap your guest count, set ceremony windows, and restrict what you can set up (some ban chairs, arches, and amplified sound entirely). There's no on-site coordinator, catering, or weather backup, so you'll bring your own vendors and a rain plan. The payoff is a stunning setting at a fraction of a private venue's cost. Start with our public-beach permit guide, then call the local office to confirm this season's rules.
