From the reviews
I love coming here for the little beach area. It's $10 to enter the park per car and they have a small stretch of beach. We typically go during the week and it's never that busy. There's also a nice visitor center with educational things for the kids.
This park is very busy. We arrived at 9:30 in the morning and there were already a lot of people in hammocks, grilling and wading in the water and a lot of people putting boats in the water.
I went to check the park out on a sunny, winter day. It cost $10 to get in, but was well worth it, because I spent 5 hours in the park, exploring the beach area and walking the trails. Even in the winter-time, it was beautiful. It was very scenic walking along the beach area, next to the Potomac River.
Enjoyed my time at the park hiking the trails. Didn't think to bring any fishing gear but there was plenty of places to fish if you did. Playground was a little small and the swimming beach area was super busy on the Sunday I went.
Getting married at Leesylvania State Park
Leesylvania State Park is a public beach or park, so a ceremony here almost always needs a permit from the managing city, county, or state parks office — and the rules matter: many public beaches cap your guest count, set ceremony windows, and restrict what you can set up (some ban chairs, arches, and amplified sound entirely). There's no on-site coordinator, catering, or weather backup, so you'll bring your own vendors and a rain plan. The payoff is a stunning setting at a fraction of a private venue's cost. Start with our public-beach permit guide, then call the local office to confirm this season's rules.
